*Observations: From the golden age of late '70s Japanese guitars, many of which were very comparable and even sometimes superior to the Gibsons and Fenders of the day, comes this beauty by Greco. Made in the famous Fujigen Gakki factory, this EG800PB was clearly inspired by the Les Paul that Peter Frampton famously wielded on the iconic cover of 1976's "Frampton Comes Alive" and it is in very good condition overall.

There is a good amount of play wear here in the form of pick scuffs and scratches, as well as some small dents here and there. There is some light buckle rash and a couple of larger dents on the back. It appears that this guitar had a pickguard at one time or had holes drilled for one but the holes have been filled in somewhat unattractively. The binding has yellowed a bit with age and there are two cigarette burns on the headstock near the low E tuner. The gold plating on the hardware has aged and pitted significantly and the pickup screws have a good amount of oxidation on them. The frets look very good, indicating it may have been re-fretted at some point, and playability is good.

The serial number and the codes on the pickups date this guitar to 1978, and much of what we see here is original. The original Maxon U-2000 pickups are here, along with the original bridge, tailpiece, switch and knobs. The tuners have been replaced with Graph Tech Ratio locking units and an RS Guitar Works wiring harness has been installed, providing a volume control for each pickup and a master tone control. A Road Runner molded hard shell case is included.

This is an extremely cool guitar from an era of great craftsmanship in Japanese instruments, and these faithful copy models are getting pricier and harder to find. This one is a great player and ready to rock.
