The 1960s Teisco MJ-2 (often branded as MJ-2L or ET-200) is a Japanese-made vintage solid-body electric guitar, featuring a double-cutaway mahogany body, a 24.75-inch scale length, and typically, dual "gold foil" style single-coil pickups. Known for its "surf rock" aesthetic, it has a thick, chunky neck, rosewood fretboard, and simple, often surface-mounted, electronics with distinct rocker switches.
Key Features & Specifications:

Notes on the Model:
- Origins: Produced in Japan in the mid-1960s (approx. 1963–1966).
- Variations: The MJ-2L refers to the version with a vibrato tailpiece, while others had fixed bridges. It is also found branded as St. George or Lafayette in the US.
- Electronics: Known for having a unique, sometimes "dark" tone due to the pickups and electronics, often used for surf and garage rock
This example is absurdly clean. Vibrato tailpiece has been switched out in favor of the stamped metal hardtail type, but the instrument is otherwise completely original. Original fretwork is a little buzzy in spots as is typical for these guitars, but it isn't noticeable when you're plugged in. The pickups are exactly what you'd expect - big gold foil type tone. They're also series wired so you get a noticeable volume boost with both pickups on. The rocker switches are a little loose and were taped in the on position at one point judging from the bit of adhesive residue on them. The neck is like a baseball bat and measures 1.739" wide at the nut. Weighs 5.14 pounds and ships in the clean vintage soft shell case shown. Such a cool guitar!!!
