Good condition, 6/10, Made in New York, USA, including SKB hardcase, has been refinished a long time ago, beautiful wood in back and sides, a few repaired cracks in the sides and a patchrepair in the top 3x0,5cm, wide v-neck, built for gut strings but works great with thinner steelstrings or silk & steel, restored with a new bridge, old but non original reverse worm tuners, stamped CF Martin & Co New York on the back, beautifully and gracefully aged with ambercolored finish, more info:
1893-1898 pre serial number. The best key to dating is the stamp on the inner back reinforcement strip: "C.F. Martin" (New York) is before 1867, "C.F. Martin & Co" (New York) is 1867-1898. The stamp inside the guitar will tell you whether it was made before or after Martin incorporated in 1867. The later ones will say "C.F.Martin & Co." The date was written in pencil mostly in the later years, especially the 1890's. There weren't a whole lot of identifying features - or changes - between 1867 and 1898, when serial numbers were introduced, but things like tuner styles can help.
