Technics SU-V100D:

Technic's unique fusion of analog and digital

Description

The Technics SU-V100D is a high-end pre-main amplifier released in 1987, a model that was highly acclaimed among audiophiles of the time. The major features of this amplifier were its digital input function and built-in D/A converter, which were advanced at the time. With two optical digital inputs and one coaxial digital input, the amplifier could be connected to digital sound sources such as CD players, DAT, and BS tuners. The built-in D/A converter uses an 18-bit, 4-DAC configuration, and is designed to reduce zero-cross distortion by processing the positive and negative of the signal independently. The amplification circuit uses Technics' proprietary Class AA system (VC-4 amplifier system). By amplifying voltage and current in separate circuits, the system achieves both high-precision sound reproduction and powerful driving capability. The design also has extremely high power supply capacity, thanks to the twin monaural structure with independent left and right configurations, large power transformers (300VA each), and large-capacity capacitors (total capacity 65,600μF). It also has a “power amp direct” function that allows direct signal input from the internal D/A converter to the power amp, eliminating extra signal paths in pursuit of high sound quality. Structurally, the preamplifier and digital sections are strictly shielded to suppress mutual interference. The SU-V100D boasts an effective output power of 150W + 150W (into 6Ω), a frequency response of 0.8Hz to 150kHz (±3dB), a signal-to-noise ratio of 115dB (when Power Amp Direct), and a total harmonic distortion ratio of 0.002%, which is numerically excellent performance. The SU-V100D is a model that is packed with Technics' unique attention to detail, aiming for a fusion of analog and digital.

This amplifier is in Very Good condition, with some signs of use and aging, including scratches and some scuffs on the surface (please check photos).
