Gretsch Vintage Shell Pack Late 50's and 70's - Unfinished Natural Maple

Gretsch restoration project!

Here we have 3 Gretsch drums (dismantled). 14 x 22" kick, 16 x 16" floor tom and 8 x 12" ride tom. I acquired these drums and intended to restore them to a better condition than they were. I got about 2/3rds of the way there. And now they can be yours to make beautiful. You can either re-wrap them or redo the finish. Someone before me re-finished all 3 drums in a natural clear lacquer. It wasn't done well so I stripped and sanded all 3 shells. I also filled the extra holes (including the muffler holes in the toms and a few extra holes on the kick). The interior "silver sealer" has been apparently redone. Labels are in the 2 toms but not in the kick (not sure there was ever one there).

The kick drum is believed to be a late 50's round badge, with what appears to be 3 plies. It has an unbelievable birds eye grain to it, which I'm sure makes this drum a "freak".. I think the kick was originally covered in a wrap, as there are very slight remnants of glue at the ply seam that I didn't want to worry over. The kick hoops are maple and are of a 70-80's incarnation. Those have not been stripped/sanded.

The 2 toms have "stop sign" badges and are believed 70's-80's. 5 or 6 ply (hard to tell).

All edges are good (with the exception of some over spray on them when the silver sealer was done. The 3 shells are in round and heads were a perfect fit on them. No cracks but there is some slight wood splay in a few spots, under where lug screws go. Not seen when assembled.

All hardware is original and have been cleaned and polished. The only exception is that the floor tom tension rods are mostly not Gretsch and are 2 different lengths; and, Floor tom legs are believed to be generics, as are the spurs for the kick drum. I left those holes in that shell. Nothing is missing from these drums.

This was a complete and working kit before taking them apart. They sounded like a million bucks! Gretsch shells (drums) in this condition, from these generations are next to impossible to find. At least at a price that doesn't break the bank. I've priced this package to move quickly. I will also include the shipping and will pack things very well. Look at the pics and be sure to ask any questions you may have. I've tried to describe this set honestly and to the best of my ability.
