1961 Epiphone Triumph Archtop Guitar - DeArmond FHC Pickup - Made in the Gibson Kalamazoo Factory

This is a beautiful and somewhat rare 1961 Epiphone Triumph, built in Gibson’s Kalamazoo factory. Gibson made these in very limited numbers during this time. These guitars were the Epiphone counterpart to the Gibson L-7 — crafted by the same people, in the same shop, using the same high-quality materials - Solid carved spruce top. Maple back and sides. Solid Mahogany neck. Rosewood Fingerboard. DeArmond FHC Pickup

The guitar is mostly original, with only a few changed parts:

  • Tuners: Replaced with Kluson-style copies that fit the original footprint. There are some signs of a previous set of tuners having been installed (see photo).
  • Nut: Replaced.
  • Side jack added for pickup.

The top is in good shape and does not show signs of excessive sag, and the neck angle is also good. The truss rod functions properly, and the original factory frets are in good condition - they show some normal wear but still play well. The guitar features a somewhat bigger 50's neck profile than the usual thin 60's profile that Epiphone used in 1961.

This guitar includes a 1950s Epiphone hard case in good condition, which alone is worth $300–$400.
