This is a brand new bass handbuilt from scratch in my California shop. This one is inspired by the 70's Precision bass of Steve Harris from Iron Maiden. Built to the specs of his original bass. Just like Steve, I chose maple for the body to give it that heft and resonance he's famous for. The neck and fretboard are made from a single piece of maple with a walnut "skunk stripe" concealing the dual action truss rod. There are 20 medium jumbo frets with a radius of 7.25" on this 34" scale instrument. The pickup is Steve's preferred Seymour Duncan SPB-3 and sits inside a hand polished aluminum pickguard. The bridge is an original Leo Quan Badass II. Machine heads are NOS Schaller from the 70's made in Germany. The cavities have been fully shielded and the bass wired with cloth pull-back wire. The pots are CTS with an orange drop capacitor and Switchcraft output jack. The body and matching headstock have been finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. Currently strung with roundwound strings .045-.105 for playability. The handcut nut is real bone and measures 1.615". The entire instrument weighs 11lbs. 9oz. This is a true custom bass and plays like a dream. The closest in feel and playability to Steve's personal bass you will ever get. Ships in a new Mono M80 Series case.
