1959 Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean 6119 PAF Filtertron Western Red like 6120 Model!

Here is a really cool vintage 1959 Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean 6119 in that classic Gretsch Orange finish you typically associate with the 6120 models.

This one features the desirable patent applied for Filter’Tron pickup, along with trestle bracing, an ebony fingerboard with small inlays, roller bridge, Bigsby tremolo, and the black signpost pickguard. It’s a great spec set on a very vibey late-’50s Gretsch.

While this guitar is coming up on 70 years old, it’s in very good plus to excellent condition overall. There is minimal checking, just a couple small spots (notably near a pickguard screw) and some light checking on the back, along with minor scratches here and there — all very typical and nothing out of line.

The binding is intact throughout, with just a bit of light shrinkage near the pickguard waist area and the very early signs of binding rot, but nothing that appears to be a concern anytime soon.

Playability-wise, it plays well overall, though not absolutely perfect. The truss rod is functioning properly, but there is a slight dip where the neck meets the body. It could be addressed if desired, but as it sits, it’s still a very playable and enjoyable guitar.

It comes with a nice recent Gretsch hardshell case.

Playability & Sound

This one plays well and has that classic Gretsch tone. The Filter’Tron delivers a clear, punchy, and articulate sound with plenty of snap and character. A great vintage voice with lots of personality.
