A rare c.1925 vintage 'Wolverine' stencil C Melody saxophone made by Conn of the USA for Grinnell Bros. It is matte finish silver plating on the body and mirror finish silver on the keys and is in great condition for its age, with no significant dents or repairs - nothing that materially impacts looks or playability. Plating is near 100%, with straight tone holes.
Its been disassembled, cleaned, tarnish-dipped, hand ragged, swedged and countersunk (to tighten the mechanism) posts aligned, tone holes leveled, rods trued, all tan leather pads (with dark plastic resos) installed, key corks and felts replaced, reassembled and adjusted for optimal play-ability. The horn is a really nice player, with a warm, fat tone, surprisingly good intonation, and comfortable key work: would be a good horn for Trad Jazz, Church, Theater... anywhere you'd like to read concert charts! I'm very pleased with the condition and play-ability of this saxophone! The case for this one is fragile but will suffice for shipping : you can just use a tenor sax gig bag. Comes with original C mouthpiece/cap/ligature (for which you can be grateful), but the neck is corked for a tenor mpc - it plays more in tune and with better tone!
