1964 Gibson C-0 Classic Classical Guitar – Kalamazoo, Michigan USA

Vintage 1960s Gibson C-0 Classic nylon-string guitar from the Kalamazoo plant, with honest age, strong character, and a nice playable feel

This is a vintage 1964 Gibson C-0 Classic classical guitar, made at Gibson’s historic Kalamazoo, Michigan plant. The interior label is present and marked Style: C-0 Classic, Gibson, Inc., Kalamazoo, Mich., U.S.A., with production/serial number 203890. It features the classic Gibson slotted headstock, natural spruce top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood-style fingerboard and bridge, decorative classical rosette, and a traditional nylon-string setup.

This is not a mint collector piece, but it has the look, feel, and tone of a well-played vintage Gibson. It plays nicely, the frets are in great condition, and it has plenty of age and character for someone looking for a real 1960s Kalamazoo-made Gibson at a more approachable price.

Condition:

Good overall vintage condition with visible cosmetic wear throughout. There is a noticeable long crack/centre seam crack on the front/top of the body running from the lower soundhole area toward the bridge/lower top area. There is also heavy wear around the soundhole and rosette, including missing/worn rosette sections and edge wear around the soundhole.

The body, back, sides, neck, and headstock show dings, scratches, finish checking, finish wear, edge wear, scuffs, and general age-related marks throughout. The back and sides show heavier cosmetic wear, especially around the lower side area. The slotted headstock has visible wear around the edges and tuner slots. Tuners are intact and functional.

Despite the cosmetic wear and top crack, the guitar plays nicely. Frets are in great condition, the fingerboard is clean, the bridge is holding, and the guitar has a comfortable vintage nylon-string feel.
