This is one of the exceptional ones! A Black/Maple beauty from the First Production Year.

I am a raving G&L fan. I've owned 16 G&L basses. All the while, I was only in search of the supreme specimens which I would keep long-term. I found them in a 1980 L-1000, a 1981 L-2000, and this 1983 SB-2, which I've owned for 18 years. She has been well-loved, with many hours of play, and equally well cared for.

I've rated her as "excellent condition." This assumes that everything (controls, pickups, truss rod, bridge) functions properly mechanically. Also that, this is a vintage instrument that has been played, so cosmetically you can see a few dings, scrapes, and scratches; these are all normal play wear (see pics, and let me know if you'd like something more specific). She's had no accidents and no repairs.

All original, with two exceptions:
1. The back of the neck has had the gloss finish professionally removed. It is sanded, oiled, and buttery smooth (you can thank me later...).
2. I just had a refret completed to original specs, and it is lovely.

Between the front nd back of the neck work, she plays like a dream, and, I suspect, better than ever.

The pickups! (I will miss these...) These things are the magic of this bass. G&L Single-Coil MFD-J's. Honestly, I've considered swapping the pickups so I could keep these, but I can't bear to split this baby up. These pups are mellow, soft, sweet, dark, bark, growl, and grind

Weight: 9lbs 3oz

Included: The very nice Ritter Soft Backpack Gig Bag that you see in the pics. It has oodles of pockets for storage.
Shipping: She will be well-packed and properly insured.
