1947 Kay K-16 Banner (rare) Hand-rubbed Burst - X-Braced @@See Video@@

This is a custom X-braced & custom varnished 1947 Kay 16 000-size guitar. It has a very big sound. Much more open an lush sounding now than it did under that overbuilt ladder system. The braces are tap tuned & scalloped. This is a very lively top that works well w/ the maple back & sides. It's a tiny bit larger than 000 (it's 15 1/2" on the lower bout), but feels like one in the lap. This is their best neck type as far as I'm concerned as it makes them fun to play. I have medium sized hands & this thing feels perfect for me.

Recent upgrades include: a fret level/dress, a new bone saddle and nut, original tuners, cleaning, hand-rubbed nitrocellulose lacquer and a setup. The neck is almost perfectly straight tuned to pitch, though the treble side has ~1/64" of relief. Action is spot-on at 3/32" EA and 1/16" DGBE at the 12th fret. String gauges are light because that's what these necks need - no truss rod. There are several hairline top crack repairs that might be hard to notice in the pictures. Indeed they were solidly addressed in the rebuild & they appear to be lacquer cracks but they are cracks. They're not going anywhere now. Very solid. Doesn't hinder this 80 year old spruce in any noticeable way! Check out the video!
