I love this guitar - check my feedback
If the Gibson SJ-200 is a Chevy - this Lowden Jumbo is a Cadillac or Mercedes
I love the SJ - but this O-50 very special
This guitar is a contemporary wood sculpture which highlights the tactile quality of the medium. (curated by me; and belongs in the finest galleries of the world) The moment you lift this O-50 from its case, you travel from the mundane to the sublime. Combining truly exquisite wood working skills and exotic Masterclass Cuban Mahogany and visually striking Masterclass Adirondack spruce, you will enjoy quality of such excellence that it exceeds human comprehension. If you never produce a single musical note you will none-the-less appreciate the dual nature of visual and tactile art. Play any note and you will experience performance art perfectly blended into visual art.
Intoxicating tone, beautiful visual appeal and very light weight create true magic. I love this guitar!

Cuban Mahogany is a most exceptional, rare and desirable tone wood. Cuban mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni) has been commercially extinct for roughly a century following centuries of over-exploitation and remaining supplies are highly restricted.
While there may be only 2 or 3 Cuban Mahogany guitars on Reverb at any given time, there are roughly 300 Brazilian Rosewood. Just to give you an idea how precious Cuban Mahogany is.
Unfortunately, just like Brazilian Rosewood, Cuban Mahogany is on the endangered species list and subject to CITES regulations. Cuban mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni) - exports banned since 1946.
At 16.5 inch width this is a substantial guitar, but because it is so light it doesn't feel large. Tone & volume are there for sure. The tone is nuanced with some blooming & great sustain, very clean, clear, fat and sweet trebles. The resonance chamber (guitar body) is very responsive. This is the kind of guitar you just don't want to put down.
The quality, craftmanship, materials and caliber of this guitar is off the charts; even the inside top bracing is finely sanded.
Great aroma from inside guitar - Lowden's are uniquely different and a cut above.
Rare - Cuban Mahogany is the BEST & most desirable Mahogany.
- Cuban Mahogany is a very big deal.
George Lowden managed to secure some Cuban Mahogany and now offers this modern haute couture piece to the discerning player/collector.
Jumbo size but very light weight.
- included video is also Cuban Mahogany/Adi top - but not mine - mine is better
OHSC - six latch Luxury case

Cuban mahogany (Swietenia mahogani) is often considered a superior tone wood to Honduran mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) due to its higher density, which produces a more articulate and resonant sound with increased sustain. Often described as having "vintage" tone, it combines classic mahogany warmth with rosewood-like overtones, & high-end sparkle. A premium tone wood known for producing a balanced tone, fat trebles & exceptional sustain. This commentary was from GOOGLE AI - and I can personally assure this mirrors my personal experience.
By the way, my wife, who never comments on these things has now frequently commented "it sounds beautiful."

Cuban Mahogany – The King of Woods Is Dead; Long Live the King SAGE JANUARY 11, 2016 0 5 MINS Once upon a time there was a magnificent wood that possessed splendid physical characteristics. It was in such demand by the wealthy that bold adventurers relentlessly scoured the remotest jungles of the Caribbean searching for it. In fact, this beautiful wood was so coveted that it was harvested to the point of commercial extinction. That wood is Cuban Mahogany.
While there are a plethora of woods that go by the trade name mahogany, Cuban Mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni), Honduran Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) and the commercially unimportant Mexican Mahogany (Swietenia humilis) are the only true members of the mahogany genus.
Cuban Mahogany is a wood apart from all others. It is substantially denser and stronger than its closest analog, Honduran Mahogany. It has superb dimensional stability. Cuban Mahogany is a fine tone wood, widely sought after for use in expensive musical instruments.
