Epic Axes is a musician-driven showroom in Los Angeles. Each guitar is personally selected, inspected, and tested to ensure top performance - only instruments we would play ourselves become part of our collection.

Up for sale - Greco SS-600P2 Kanako Nakayama signature model from the early ’90s, part of the late Mint Collection era - a really cool and somewhat under-the-radar piece from that period of Japanese production.

These were made during a time when Greco was experimenting with artist models and slightly more modern SG-style designs, and this one definitely leans that way. It keeps the classic double-cut SG feel but with a bit more attitude and a tighter, more focused response - super fun guitar to play.

Condition-wise, the guitar is in overall very good shape for its age. It shows honest cosmetic wear throughout - small dings, scratches, buckle rush and finish marks consistent with regular use over the years (see photos). There is also an additional strap button hole on the back near the upper horn, which is a common and practical mod on SG-style guitars to improve balance and prevent neck dive.

Frets are in good condition with even, age-appropriate wear - no deep grooves or dead spots, and plenty of life left for comfortable playing.

The guitar retains its original pickups and electronics. It sounds fantastic - clear, punchy, and dynamic, with that lively Japanese humbucker character that sits great both clean and driven. It’s one of those guitars that just feels responsive and alive in your hands.

Overall, this is a great example of an early ’90s Greco artist model - unique, musical, and full of character, without trying too hard to be anything other than a really solid player.

The following work has been done: full fretboard conditioning with lemon oil, fret polish, pickup height adjustment for balance and clarity, and a fresh set of D’Addario 10-46s installed. String height at the 12th fret on the low E is right at 2.2 mm - set for comfortable playability.
