Ibanez IMG2010 Midi Guitar 1986 - Black

The IMG2010 is a solid body MIDI electronic guitar system introduced by Ibanez in mid 1985. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.

The IMG2010 features a maple body bolted to a maple neck with a GFRP (glassfiber reinforcement) rod and a 22-fret ebony fretboard with dot position markers.

The IMG2010 features a headless design with a tailpiece tuning mechanism located on the body behind the bridge rather than on the headstock as in a more conventional design.

The condition is listed as good as there are are a number of cosmetic defects (primarily scratches and chipped paint, along with some wear on the volume knob as shown in the pictures).

The original Ibanez humbucking magnetic pickups have been replaced by a pair of Carvin 22 Pole Piece Humbucking Pickup's and single/dual coil switches were added for each pickup along with a phase inverting switch for the pair.

Other components include a custom bridge/tailpiece with integrated Roland piezo hex pickups and microtuners, and a "virtual" electronic whammy bar. It has both a traditional ¼" guitar output and a standard 24-pin MIDI output.

Controls consist of a master volume, a master tone, and a 3-way pickup toggle for the magnetic pickups. Additional controls for the MIDI unit include a 3-way mini toggle to select guitar, MIDI or both outputs; a balancer to blend the guitar and MIDI outputs; a sensitivity control to adjust the amount of pick attack necessary to trigger the MIDI controller; a velocity control to adjust the touch sensitivity; an assignable control knob which can be configured through the attached MIDI controller to control pitch bend, portomento or other effects.

The electronic virtual whammy bar is not attached to the strings so that its use won't impact tuning stability. It can be configured to bend pitch (as does a standard mechanical whammy) or glissando, portomento or other pitch effects.

The IMG2010 was designed to be used with the Ibanez MC1 midi guitar controller, but was also compatible with other controllers.
