Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a gorgeous older Electro Voice model 611 dynamic Omni-directional microphone based on the similar 911 crystal version that was sold for about 15 years during the 1950's before the mic was eventually discontinued around the 1960's. This microphone comes complete with the Belden cable shown in which to operate. This unique design came right out of Buchanan, Michigan and has a look all it's own with it's clean, pleasing lines and curves. One of the more attractive and interesting designs for sure.
This mic has been tested and cleaned. It has a strong output and will be suitable for many situations.
Pic # 2 is from an old 1950's E.V catalog showing this very model. Before the 611 and 911 models there was only the 610 and 910 models. These were the forerunner to the later 611 and 911 mics that were sold from the mid 1940's to the early 1950's. These 611 microphones were often used for dispatch and general broadcasting purposes when they were originally sold but I have seen many musicians using these for singing as well.
The 611 has a very bright tone with not much bass. It's very rockabilly in nature with it's Hi Z setting and will be a fun mic to use due to it's tone. These would make great harp mics as well.
It should also be noted that this is just about as nice as they come physically speaking. They rarely come this nice however so this is certainly a very collectible example. These old 611 mics with their polished chrome bodies are usually in much rougher condition.
Many 611's no longer work I find. Only about 50% of the 611's I come across still work and this is actually the first working example I have offered for sale in two years.
As seen in the pics provided the polished chrome finish has a gorgeous luster. The 611 has almost zero wear as seen in the pics provided. Just a few small scratches. Mic is a very conservative 9 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. Please let the pictures be your guide. I try to provide the most detailed, up close photos available so you know exactly what you are getting and no buyers remorse so common with these older mics.
The stainless steel mesh screen is in excellent condition and looks beautiful with zero wear, odors or dents but it's covered by the the black cloth pop filter and it too is excellent. Threads for the cable and stand are perfect and this mic will screw onto any American desk or floor stand. The E.V badge looks very clean as well and on / off switch works perfectly. Everything is tight on this mic. No issues.
Also included...
A shorter 12 foot Belden 8240 model cable to operate the mic. Cable is soft, pliable and in excellent working condition. The cable has the quality Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector which will work with most audio equipment.
A nice combo package really.
MICROPHONE STAND IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...NOT PART OF THIS SALE.
As always...
