The co-owner and “Chief Nerd” of Tom Anderson Guitar Works gave me the following history of this guitar:

“That guitar is indeed a rarity! 7 string guitars have quite the history here... 

We built the first Pro Am 7 as a one off in 1990 and didn't build any other 7's until a batch of 11 Drop Top and Pro Am 7's happened in 2000and 2001, which is where your guitar comes from. We then again didn't build any 7's until another batch of Drop Top and Pro Am 7's in 2010. And then most recently we launched the Angel 7 in 2023 and stopped building Drop Top and Pro Am 7's all together.

So... your guitar is 1 of 11 7 string guitars built in 2000/2001 and it was originally shipped to a dealer called Brook Mays/The Pro Shop in Dallas, TX.”

Tom Anderson Drop-Top Seven-String Sparkle Purple Guitar, Tom Anderson Guitarworks, Newbury Park, California, Serial Number 1-3-01P. Right-handed, plain maple top on alder body, marked on the front of the headstock "TOM ANDERSON/ GUITARWORKS," signed by Tom Anderson on the reverse and stamped "buzz feiten/ TUNING SYSTEM" with two patent dates and patent pending, hard rock maple neck with rosewood fretboard, gold neckplate inscribed with initial "A" and etched "MADE IN/ CALIFORNIA/ 1-3-01P," gold-plated vintage tuning keys, tremolo and hardware; also including a Tom Anderson guitar information sheet with serial number, description of the guitar, Tom Anderson Guitarworks color brochure, "Tom Anderson Tuning Tips and introduction of the Buzz Feiten Tuning System," "Tom Anderson Guitarworks Retail Price List January 2001," "Tom Anderson Pickupworks Technical Specifications & Retail Price List," printout of the guitar from the internet, Tom Anderson Guitarworks User List.
