Just a solid, no-surprises vintage Martin that sounds like it should. Originally bought this as a birthday year guitar...but I have too many guitars now.
Up for sale is a 1981 Martin HD-28 in very good vintage condition. A classic rosewood dreadnought with that unmistakable Martin tone—big, rich, and balanced.
Tone & Feel:
Strong low end, clear highs, and that classic scooped-mid dreadnought sound. Great for strumming, flatpicking, or leading a mix. Nicely opened up over time like you’d expect from an early ’80s Martin.
Condition / Notes:
- No cracks or structural issues
- Normal cosmetic wear on the top consistent with age
- Frets show minimal wear and have plenty of life left
- Pickguard: Appears to be starting to shrink slightly (common on Martins of this era). Still functional as-is, but a future owner may choose to replace it
- Guitar may appear slightly cloudy in photos—just a bit of dust. Could use a quick wipe down
Specs (highlights):
- Solid spruce top
- East Indian rosewood back & sides
- Herringbone trim (HD-28)
- Ebony fingerboard & bridge
- Weight: 4.70 lbs
Includes:
- Original Martin hard shell case
- No pickup installed
