I acquired this Buffet Crampon Academy model clarinet as a "blind buy," but I absolutely loved its sound. I played it for a period of three years; it was professionally refurbished two years ago, has no air leaks, and every register sounds fantastic. Some of the pads were replaced, but the current set still has plenty of life left in them. It comes with its original case and a Selmer HS** mouthpiece—a model highly prized for jazz music—both in good condition. Overall a great clarinet!!!
Im attaching some Google info below:
Based on the serial number 52033, your Buffet Crampon "Academy" model clarinet was manufactured approximately between 1953 and 1956.
Here is a breakdown of information regarding this instrument:
The "Academy" Model
Relationship to R13: The "Academy" model was often considered a professional-level, wood-bodied clarinet, frequently described as an early R13 model.
"Reject" Myth: Many forum discussions suggest that these were branded as "Academy" if the raw wooden body had minor cosmetic, non-functional flaws (like small pits or discoloration) that did not meet the strict visual criteria for the premier R13 branding, but they are built with the same specifications, bore, and quality wood.
Quality: They are highly regarded as vintage instruments that play similarly to the early R13s.
