This is a Music Man Stingray II guitar made by Leo Fender in 1977. In 1965 Leo Fender sold Fender to CBS with a no contest ten year clause in the contract, so in 1976 when the clause was up, Leo brought his second company to the consumers and made some of the worlds best basses and guitars of the 70’s. There were a few guitars that he came out with and at first it was the Stingray I and II and the difference was the neck radius. The Stingray I had a 10 inch radius and the II had a 7.25 inch neck radius so was a lot quicker and funkier which is what this example is.

The colour is a rare colour that few were painted and at the time I believe many called it root beer and then the name mocha was adopted which makes a bit more sense. This guitar is in brand new condition and has hardly been played throughout its lifetime. It sounds and plays amazingly! Very quick feeling neck and overall easy to play guitar with a super cool and very unique pickup switching plate and dial with original cast bridge and HH pickup configuration, so one can get almost any sound out of her.

I’ve had a few of these over the years and many of the basses and I’ve gotta say, these are amazing instruments made by a master of his craft and an amazing inventor and problem solver, Mr. Leo Fender himself. As the story goes, he was starting to lose his hearing in the mid 70’s which is why the HH set up for the pickups, as they are naturally bright.

Any questions at all, please DM me, shipping will of course be calculated to where you live from where I live only with no extra profit hidden in the shipping cost for me. I can’t stand when shipping costs are listed and you know you could get it shipped cheaper but people just make up some big number but don’t disclose this fact here. So rest assured, you will only be charged exactly the cost to get it from me to you and no more.

The serial number on this guitar shows it is a very low serial and within the first year they were produced as they started the serial number with G for guitar or B for Bass and then the numbers started at 1000, so this serial being G00 shows it to be a very low serial number. It’s a very clean instrument with no dings, chips, or scratches. She’s very clean, its actually unreal for her age!
