This is the Slingerland Hawaiian Steel Guitar. I believe it dates back to the 1920s. It's a really amazing sounding birch guitar with a deep V-neck that plays really easily up and down the neck.
Make sure you check out the video at the bottom of this listing to hear what it sounds like, and then stick around for an in depth discussion on the work completed.
It's strung with silk and steel strings and has nice low action, under 2mm at the 12th fret. Despite the low action, it plays without any buzz, even with a hard attack.
It has had a neck reset, fret level, and dress. It has a new ebony nut. It has a custom-fabricated rosewood copy of the original bridge, a bone saddle, and a bridge plate replacement. The braces have been reglued. Additional soundhole popsicle-style braces and an additional ladder brace in front of the bridge plate were added to stabilize the top.
