Over the years, Epiphone guitars of the 1960's have developed a cult following of their own. Built in the same factory as their Gibson equivalent models after the Gibson buyout of the company in the late '50s, they share many of each others features, although subtle design changes and undeniably catchier model names such as 'Texan' & 'Frontier' give them a cache of their own outside of their Gibson connection.

This excellent 1964 Epiphone Cortez is a fantastic example of a mid '60s Gibson made Epiphone acoustic. The Cortez was the Epiphone branded version of Gibsons B-25 smaller body acoustic model. The Cortez features a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, X braced construction, with an open, balanced tone with plenty of clarity. This particular example is perfect for finger style playing, with great tonal definition across the strings. The longer Epiphone scale length also greatly increases note attack, and arguably offers more dynamic range. This particular example also features the wider nut width found on models from ā€˜64, as opposed to the typically skinnier neck found on the majority of Epiphone acoustics.

This guitar is in original condition, with the original three on a plate tuners, belly up bridge and Epiphone 'Slashed C' logo pickguard. This guitar also includes its original case.

This guitar is in very good condition, with only minor signs of play wear to the finish and some areas of lacquer checking, and has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop. This guitar also includes a 2 year warranty.
