Selling my Fender ‘52 Hotrod telecaster. I bought this at an estate sale a few years ago. This one is an amalgam of two guitars. The body is a 2008 Fender ‘52 Hotrod Telecaster and the neck is a 2016 Fender American Vintage ‘52 Telecaster, I own both guitars and swapped the neck between the two. I’ll be keeping the other and selling this one. The neck on this one is a 7.25“ radius, that is pretty much the only difference between the two I think (other neck is 9.5”). The guitar is really clean, there are a couple little dings on the body, a little bit of rust developing on the bridge, the neck has a ding on the back and pretty heavy checking in the laquer finish. I tried to get pictures of all issues above. There may be a few other little dings here and there that I didn’t see, overall very clean though. The checking on the neck looks very dramatic in the pictures, but it’s actually only really visible in a certain light, most of the time it’s imperceptible. It is very fine, you cannot feel it while playing. For some reason the nitro finish on my 2016 av tele started checking from the day I got it. I think it was kind of a thing with the nitro finishes fender used in that era. Anyway, looks pretty cool when you can see it and does not effect playability or feel or anything. The neck also has threaded inserts that where installed by Charlie McVay (the b bender guy) when I had him install a b bender in the body this neck previously belonged to. He is a pro and did a super pro job. This allows you to remove the neck as much as needed without stripping out the wood, doesn’t change anything beyond that. The frets are in good shape, a few small divits, but totally healthy and playable. Great playing and sounding guitar, the mini humbucker is pretty jangly sounding, bridge pickup sounds like a tele. The case is not original, this is the case it was in when I bought it, not sure what the previous owner did with the original case, but this case does the job well enough. Lastly I took the strings off to get pictures of the dates/markings on the body and neck, but it has been restrung with NYXL 10s and is ready to go. I have the shipping set at a flat rate currently, it may be a little high as I have been absolutely shafted on shipping costs my last two guitar sales. Unfortunately it just is expensive to ship things now. With that said, if shipping comes in significantly less I will gladly refund the difference, I just want to make sure my shipping costs are covered, I’m not trying to pad my profit or anything. Please let me know if you have questions.
