This Gibson Kirk Douglas Signature SG in Ebony is a modern gem, and built for players who demand maximum tone and flexibility. I’ve loved using it across jazz ensembles, classic rock riffs like AC/DC, Jerry Garcia vibes, and even country twang. It also delivers warm, Strat-like cleans and nails Hendrix vibes with ease, thanks to its three Burstbucker pickups cascading in hotness from the neck to bridge and versatile coil-splitting controls. 

Despite regular use, it’s in excellent condition and it plays perfectly. The setup is smooth, the intonation spot-on, and it stays in tune effortlessly even with heavy vibrola use. No neck dive, thanks to the abundant hardware layout.

The Gibson Kirk Douglas Signature SG in Ebony is a high-performance electric guitar developed in collaboration with "Captain" Kirk Douglas, the renowned guitarist for The Rootsand the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  This model pays tribute to Douglas’s custom three-pickup SG Custom, combining vintage SG aesthetics with modern tonal versatility. 

Electronics & Controls

Equipped with a trio of Burstbucker humbucking pickups (Burstbucker 1 in the neck, #2 in the middle, #3 in the bridge), the guitar offers rich, dynamic tones ideal for everything from clean funk to aggressive rock. 

Its control layout is highly innovative:

• 3-way toggle switch for standard pickup selection
• Individual volume controls for each pickup, each with push/pull coil-splitting to access single-coil tones
• A blender pot (volume control) for the middle pickup, allowing it to be mixed with any other pickup combination
• Master tone and master volume (mounted on the pickguard) for global tone and output shaping 

This setup provides exceptional tonal flexibility, enabling combinations like neck + middle, bridge + middle, or all three pickups simultaneously.
