2002 Gibson 135 This a great playing and sounding guitar. One owner. Includes original hard case and all latches work properly. This guitar was not played a lot and was hanging on the wall for a long time. The Gibson ES-135 (2002) is one of those underrated “sleeper” Gibson's—kind of a hybrid between a jazz box and an ES-335-style semi-hollow.
The neck is straight and plays great. The neck is missing some laminate in one area but there is no crack or separation of the fingerboard. The picture looks worse than it is.
The body is clean with very little rash. The dark spot coloring on the back is under the finish. Small chip in the binding near the tailpiece. Everything works as it should with some scratchiness in a couple of the pots.
- Body: Laminated maple (top, back, sides)
- Center block: Balsa wood (lighter, more resonant than ES-335 maple block)
- Cutaway: Florentine (sharp-point single cut)
- F-holes: Yes
- Neck: Mahogany or maple, medium “C”. Profile not too chunky, not too slim
- Fingerboard: Rosewood, dot inlays
- Scale length: 24.75"
The balsa center block gives it more “air” and warmth than a 335, but still controls feedback.
- Pickups: 2 × Gibson ‘57 Classic humbuckers
- Controls:
- 2 volume
- 2 tone
- 3-way toggle
- Built: March 20, 2002
- Factory: Nashville, Tennessee
- Final-year ES-135
