Up for sale is a vintage 1980 Tokai TE-55N Breezysound in Natural finish, made in Japan.
This is a very attractive early Japanese-made Tokai Telecaster-style model from the highly regarded Breezysound era. The TE-55N is one of those vintage Tokai guitars that captures the classic Tele feel very well, while also having its own distinctly Japanese build quality and character.
One of the key points of this guitar is the beautiful natural-finished sen body. The body appears to be a center-joined 2-piece sen construction, with very bold and attractive grain visible on both the front and back. The natural finish really shows off the wood, giving the guitar a strong vintage Japanese look that is especially appealing for collectors and players looking for something with character.
The guitar is equipped with its original pickups, and the electronics also appear to remain original. This is an important point for a vintage Tokai, as many of these guitars have been modified over the years. The original bridge pickup has that bright, cutting Tele-style attack, while the neck pickup gives a warmer and rounder tone. Together, the guitar delivers the familiar clear, snappy, and responsive sound expected from a good vintage Tele-style instrument.
The weight is approximately 3.56 kg / 7.85 lbs, which is a very comfortable and practical weight for this style of guitar. It has enough body and resonance, while still feeling easy to handle on stage or in the studio.
The maple neck has a classic feel, and the frets remain in very good condition with approximately 90% fret life remaining. The guitar has been adjusted and is currently in good playing condition. The neck and frets have been set up, and it plays comfortably across the fingerboard.
There is some wear along the edge of the fingerboard, one small ding that does not affect playability, and a few minor dings on the body. Overall, however, this guitar remains in clean condition for a vintage instrument from 1980. Please check all photos carefully for details.
A vintage-style brown gig bag is included.
This is a great example of an early 1980 Tokai Breezysound with original pickups/electronics, a beautiful natural sen body, and strong vintage MIJ appeal. Highly recommended for players, collectors, and anyone looking for a quality Japanese-made Tele-style guitar from Tokai’s classic era.
