From Epiphone:

"Few guitars can claim the legendary status of the 50s-era Gibson Les Paul™ Standards. Known among players and collectors as “Bursts” and acclaimed for their beauty, smooth playability, and exceptional tone, they are among the most cherished vintage guitars on the planet, having been seen in the hands of countless musicians on concert stages worldwide and featured on numerous hit recordings. Now, Epiphone is proud to introduce the updated Les Paul Standard 50s Figured, an Inspired by Gibson tribute to those legendary guitars that lovingly recreates the feel and tone of the 50s-era Les Paul Standards. Epiphone’s long friendship with Mr. Les Paul began in 1940 when Les built one of the world’s first solidbody electric guitars while working nights at the original Epiphone factory in Manhattan. Les’ first solidbody guitar, nicknamed “the Log,” would go on to inspire the Les Paul Standard, which many consider the greatest electric guitar ever made.

The Les Paul Standard 50s Figured is crafted with a mahogany body and a maple cap with a gorgeous, highly figured maple veneer, delivering the rich midrange punch of mahogany along with a touch of brightness from the maple cap, which is essential to the sonic signature of a Les Paul Standard. The highly figured maple veneer gives it the stunning looks of a far more expensive guitar. It also has a mahogany neck with a 1959 Rounded Medium C-profile and long neck tenon for exceptional stability and added sustain. The fretboard is now rosewood and features pearloid trapezoid inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets. The Kalamazoo headstock is equipped with Epiphone’s Vintage Deluxe tuners and a Graph Tech® nut, ensuring solid tuning stability, while the other ends of the strings pass over an Epiphone LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and are anchored with a LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece. The Les Paul Standard 50s is powered by a pair of critically acclaimed Epiphone ProBucker™ humbuckers™, with a ProBucker 1 in the neck position and a slightly hotter ProBucker 2 in the bridge for a balanced tone in all three switch positions. The pickups are wired to CTS® pots using 50s-style wiring, and the controls are topped with gold Top Hat knobs with dial pointers. A premium gig bag is also included. The Les Paul Standard 50s Figured is a fitting and accessible tribute to those legendary vintage Bursts that players at every stage can enjoy."
