Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a older and rare 1950's era Atlas MS-4 model floor stand based on the more common MS-20 "Heavy Duty" model microphone floor stand built in Brooklyn, NY and was an upgraded model in the Atlas Corp line up. It has the deco two tier "waterfall" cast iron painted base with 3 chrome adjustable risers. The MS-4 model was exactly the same as the MS-20 except that the MS-20 had two risers and was not as height adjustable as the MS-4.

The MS-4 was ideal for situations where you needed extra stability as it had the wider, heavier base that the standard floor stands of that time.

Pic # 2 is from an old 1950's era Atlas catalog showing this very mic stand and it's basic characteristics. The more common MS-20 has been sold by Atlas since the 1950's and still being sold today but I think the M-4 variant was phased out years ago.

The MS-4 has a base that is 12 inches wide and appx 11 pounds in weight but the adjustable height ranges between of 24 inches low to 61 inches tall giving you more than enough height to work with. If you are a seated musician and need that lower height this MS-4 is perfect for that.

This MS-4 is a very tough and rugged stand being almost indestructible and made much better than most stands sold today. You could fight a grizzly bear off with this stand and based on it's appearance it may very well have. It's not the prettiest example but let's be honest...it 70 + years old right?

The good news is that it works as good as the day it was sold and is 100% original.

The chrome on the upper riser has just lite scratches and scuff marks. The center riser is the same. The lower chrome riser is missing the Atlas logo. It has tiny spots of corrosion and scratches but free of dents. The clutch mechanisms to lower the top and center riser works accordingly and in great condition. The cast iron base is in pretty rough with lite scratches, discoloration, corrosion and scuff marks. It still has the original dark grey paint. It could always be repainted but it's still good enough to leave alone.

The bottom of the base shows lite rust stains. The 3 original felt pads show just lite wear but work great.

This stand will accept any screw on mic or mic clip you have. It has the 5/8 X 27 universal thread on top.

Overall this stand is an easy 5 + on a scale of 1 - 10. I'm very picky though. Others would probably find it nicer.

Due to recent price increases at the Postal Service I cannot ship this for any less than stated.

I do combine shipping which will save a lot of money if you plan on buying multiple items.

As with all my vintage microphones and stands...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. BUYER MUST PAY WITHIN 24 HOURS or will lose rights to this item, unpaid item report will be filed and will be re-listed. If you don't intend on buying this...do not commit to buy please. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
