Up for sale is a beautiful K. Yairi Y-22 classical guitar. If you know the Yairi name, you know these are world-class instruments handcrafted in the mountains of Kani, Japan. This specific model features the "Prize-Winning Classical Guitar" label, signifying the high level of craftsmanship that went into Kazuo Yairi’s nylon-string designs.
The Y-22 is known for its incredible projection and balanced, "pianistic" tone. Because Yairi famously air-dried his tonewoods for years (sometimes decades) before building, this guitar has matured into a stable, resonant instrument with a warmth that modern factory guitars simply cannot replicate.
Condition & Playability
- Overall Condition: Good. The guitar has been well-cared for, showing honest signs of use consistent with its age.
- Top: Solid Cedar or Spruce (rich, aged honey finish).
- Back/Sides: Mahogany or Rosewood (please see photos for grain detail).
- Fretboard: Dark, high-quality Rosewood or Ebony with plenty of life left in the frets.
- Bridge: Traditional classical tie-block bridge, securely attached.
- Setup: Ready to play with 6 nylon strings. The action is comfortable for both student and professional classical repertoire.
