Trader-Bobs MUSIC offers a 1907 CG Conn, "Perfected Wonder" Cornet Very good condition , especially for it's age. Serial number, 104449, makes it 1907, year of production. I read that Conn started putting Union badges on their horns in 1905, Metal Polishers Union, I could not find a Union badge. There is an "M" stamped above the serial number, any significance? Patent dated April 2, 1907, 119 years ago, this month. All four tuning slides operate smoothly. All three piston valves, (freshly oiled, perform just as they should. A PLAYER, right out of the box. A few minor dents, and signs of normal wear. Brass, or Brass lacquered, or gold-plated finish? Gold washed bell. The outside of the horn is basically the same color as the interior of the gold washed bell. How can I tell if this may be gold plated. The internet states that the 1907 models often featured intricate engraving, gold plating, and Mother of Pearl valve buttons. The bell is nicely engraved, but not overdone. The very last picture is taken of the #3 piston valve body, it appears to be an area, where maybe the gold plating has worn off. The picture before that is the valve finger buttons. There appears to be some sort of linkage missing from the number 3 tuning slide. I have looked at similar years of Conn cornets online, and couldn't find a definitive picture of what may be missing. A professional horn player friend, played this, for me, and he stated it plays well. Includes, the original hardcase, mute, Conn Wonder mouthpiece, and an additional tuning slide to change from Bb, to A. The case latches, and hinges are good, with one exception, the left side, (as you are facing the case) , the flip portion of the latch is missing. Study all the pictures, as they are part of the description.
