The Non-Linear Memory Machine is a buffer-based delay and looping device that focuses on time manipulation rather than traditional repeats. It can move from short, phase-like textures through to long, drifting loops up to around 16 seconds, with a custom time-stretching approach that avoids the usual pitch shift when changing delay time.
The Time control sets the delay length and becomes a manual buffer scroll when Freeze is engaged, letting you scrub through captured audio. Smear introduces random movement to the playback for diffuse, reverb-like textures, and Pitch shifts the signal up or down an octave with stepped intervals available. A Dry/Wet blend sets the balance, and Feedback allows anything from subtle layering to full sound-on-sound looping. Three buffer ranges cover short, medium and long times, with Freeze holding and replaying captured audio for further manipulation.
