I purchased this guitar on Reverb less than two years ago. Unfortunately, I have not played it due to complications with arthritis in my right hand. So here it is, up for sale is a 1997 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul, Catalina in the highly sought-after Cascade Green finish. This model was only produced for a short run between 1997–1999, making it a rare and collectible variation of the Les Paul.
This guitar features a mahogany body with a maple top, a comfortable medium ’59-style neck profile, and a premium ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl inlays. It comes equipped with original Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers, delivering warm vintage tone with excellent clarity and punch.
The Catalina series stands out for its unique aesthetic, including an uncommon color spec, pearloid pickguard and truss rod cover, and a unique Custom Shop headstock inlay. It also features weight-relief/chambering, making it lighter and more resonant than a traditional Les Paul.
This guitar is in very good condition for its age and has been well cared for. As expected for a 1997 instrument with a nitro finish, natural aging has occurred. There is normal player wear and tear, and some visible finish checking has appeared, particularly near the control knobs and around the headstock. There is also a blemish on the back of the neck consistent with contact from a guitar stand.
These cosmetic details do not affect playability and are typical of vintage nitrocellulose finishes. Please review all photos carefully for a complete representation of the guitar’s condition. Some details are very hard to capture in photos, but I have tried to represent this guitar accurately.
