Vintage Ludwig Acrolite aluminum shell snare drum.

Noted for their dry crisp tone these vintage Acrolites have appreciated significantly in value over the last several years and continue to be in high demand.

Pointed corner Blue and Olive badge, serial numbers 949845. Chicago Ill production date. 14x5 inch size.

The drum is from late 1972. The drum has a very low six digit serial number - 949845 - and still retains the early P85 throw off with the 12 eyelet hole bottom. The drum's throw off also has the logo with the Trademark R, which is unusual to the early 12 eyelet throw off. Hence this is the earliest B & O Type II Trademark R badge Acrolite I have ever seen I all my years of collecting vintage Ludwig snare drums.

Excellent condition, from the original non-smoking owner. No missing or broken parts, original p85 throw off, original butt plate, original hoops and lugs, and original internal muffler assembly with external baseball bat muffler control arm. All components in excellent working order.

Shell exterior is in excellent clean condition  no non original holes in the shell, no dents. A few very light surface scuffs from routine use. Natural brushed aluminum finish. Shell interior and bearing edges are in excellent condition no issues.

Throw off works great, smooth and responsive action, as does the muffler. Badge in excellent condition, no damage, badge and grommet are affixed tightly to the drum.

New Ludwig logo coated batter head,  original Ludwig clear resonant head in excellent condition. Original Ludwig snare wires in excellent condition.
