A very cool Martin D-41 from 1972 came into our store recently. As someone who has played and performed on many different acoustic guitars for 50+ years, I can say this is a good one. It’s got all of the volume as well as the big bottom and high end sparkle that you would expect from a Martin dreadnaught. It’s possible that the exceptional sound of this guitar has something to do with the fact that this one has really been played! It has numerous small scratches and dings that I would say represent 50+ years of “honest playing wear”. That being said, the frets are in very good condition, the neck is straight, and it does not need a neck set. The action measures 3mm at the 12th fret and there is saddle to go lower if need be. It feels perfect the way it is for me personally. Vintage Martins have historically been an excellent investment and these early 70’s ones seem to be going through the roof. This is also an opportunity to make a long term investment in great guitar tone as well. This comes in a solid after market hard shell case. Thanks.
