Attention vintage Kay fans, Up for your consideration is my Kay 27 flat top with a Kelvinator head stock from the early 1960s. The condition is very fine and the sound and playability is great. The Kay 27, first introduced in 1952 was essentially a J-200 clone. It sports a solid spruce top, curly maple back, sides and neck, ebony fretboard and bridge. The literature refers to this as the "Solo Special". Truss rod adjuster is intact (I recommend never to use it). I've had this guitar for many years and have yet to see one as nice. The sunburst back and sides speak for themselves. The spruce top is resonant. The guitar comes in a new TKL hard case.
I've been collecting Kays bearing the Kelvinator headstocks from this era for years and have many Jazz Specials, Kay 21, Kay11s, Kay Artist, Jazz II (sold). I recently discovered I'm not getting any younger so I'm beginning to unload some of these collectable pieces.
