Washburn Series 1000 s70 by Status Design 1980s - Woodstone Gold

Up for sale is this Washburn Status headless bass in the rare Woodstone Gold color. it has the original Status-branded pickups, original preamp, and Status-branded bridge as well as one wild, yet elegant finish. If you are familiar with Mark King of Level 42, this bass absolutely will absolutely nail that sound. That said, the tone is quite treble forward, but the tone control can bring it down into regular modern active territory.

As for the bass condition, the truss rod turns, but is near its max. I installed 40-95 gauge strings to ease tension on the 24 fret neck and that did the trick. Now the bass remarkably easy to play with great action for both fingerstyle and slap and the tonal center of the smaller gauge fits perfectly with the preamp and pickup’s strengths. Frets are in good condition and the only cosmetic issue other than a couple of small scuffs and age-related wear of the gold finish on the bridge and tuner tailpiece. Also just had servicing done to the preamp to solder a wire that had been previously repaired with a wire connector.
