The '57 Les Paul Custom is historically known as "Black Beauty," arguably one of the most elegant and beautiful guitars ever made.

The guitar features a smooth ebony fingerboard that provides a clear tonal quality. The body is entirely made of mahogany, generating a warmer and "woodier" sound compared to the Les Paul Standard model.

This guitar from the Historic Collection includes all "True Historic" plastics as well as all the technical specifications that have elevated this series from the Gibson Custom Shop to "state of the art."

Specifically, the guitars are constructed entirely from ultra-selected woods, animal glues, ultra-thin nitrocellulose finishes for maximum resonance, a truss rod without rubber casing, one-piece fingerboards, and True Historic plastic parts.

For 2019, this already remarkable set of technical details is enhanced by improved fingerboard inlays, which are even more aesthetically faithful to those used in the 1950s, and period-correct frets: specifically, all models feature smaller frets that replicate instruments made prior to 1959.

Lastly, special mention should be made of the electronics, which consist of the new Custom Bucker pickups, Alnico III, now offered in an unpotted version, and a set of Bumble Bee capacitors that are identical to the originals.
