Martin / 2023 CTM D-45 "The 68"
The Martin-D45, which debuted as a regular model in 1938.
As Martin's top-of-the-line model, its beauty and the brilliant, expansive sound reminiscent of playing a grand piano have captivated many artists and acoustic guitar fans, making it a timeless aspiration and beloved instrument.
In 1942, due to material restrictions caused by World War II, production of the D-45 was unfortunately discontinued. However, in 1968, Mike Longworth spearheaded the resumption of D-45 production.
This instrument is a reproduction of a D-45 from that historical era of production.
—Sides/Back with Beautiful Wood Grain
It features Guatemalan rosewood, which has a beautiful striped pattern similar to Brazilian rosewood.
Its brilliant sound is said to be close to that of Brazilian rosewood, and it is used as a substitute wood in high-end lines.
The center strip is adorned with a vibrant multi-colored line.
-Fine-grained top wood
The top is made of fine-grained spruce.
In addition to vintage white binding, the abalone shell pearl ring shines beautifully.
The rosette is also luxuriously decorated with abalone shell.
Fingerboard
The ebony fingerboard is adorned with mother-of-pearl hexagon inlays.
In fact, depending on the era, there were specifications using either abalone shell or mother-of-pearl, and enjoying the various looks is one of the charms of the D-45.
Neck
The neck, made from select hardwood, features a thin neck grip for comfortable playability.
Bridge
The ebony downbelly bridge features beautiful stripes and comes with a short saddle and white bridge pins.
Head
The headstock, made with Guatemalan rosewood veneer, features a vertical abalone shell logo.
Many people have long admired Martin guitars that use this logo.
-Tuning Machines
The tuning pegs are GROVER 102G, faithfully reproducing the specifications of the time.
