Vintage 1973 Fender Allegro 5-String Resonator Banjo w/ Chipboard Case!

Up for sale is this vintage 1973 Fender Allegro 5-string resonator banjo.

This instrument appears to be all original with the exception of the head and bridge. It's in very nice condition for its age and is issue free unlike many of them, especially in the binding department as these often suffer from binding-rot. The original sunburst finish looks great and is the perfect shade to match your Stratocaster from the same era and, to us, that along makes it cool as can be! There are some finish scuffs, scratches, dings, and some chipping along the resonator edge (pictured) and the original metal hardware shows expected wear and pitting. There is a small chip in the finish on the headstock volute which we have tried to capture in the photos, purely a cosmetic issue.

This one has just been gone over by our tech who spent a little time cleaning it up (he did a quick job, please note that it was not completely taken apart for cleaning), polished the frets, oiled the fretboard, installed a fresh set of strings, and slightly adjusted the set up. It turned out to be a great playing and great sounding banjo, with comfortable action all the way up the neck and good volume. We have no problem calling it one of the nicest surviving examples that we've ever seen of Fender's banjo line...

A non-original chipboard case is included. It is in fair condition, but the handle is missing. The instrument will be well-packed inside and out to ensure safe shipping.

If you're after one of these, you could look far and wide and not find a better example of the model. Why waste time when it's right here in front of you?
