The Classic S is one of Suhr’s most popular models, combining vintage-inspired design with modern refinements. Built with Suhr’s high standard of quality and stability, it offers a reliable playing experience with strong tonal character and excellent versatility.
The combination of Suhr locking tuners, Gotoh 510 bridge, and Suhr’s proprietary SSCII noise reduction system creates a refined balance between vintage tone and modern performance. SSCII, or Silent Single Coil II, is Suhr’s passive 60-cycle hum reduction system. It does not require a battery and is designed to keep the signal cleaner without compromising the natural tone of the single-coil pickups.
The V60LP pickups in the neck and middle positions faithfully recreate classic 1960s single-coil tone. Built with period-correct-style magnets and inspired by early-’60s hand-winding characteristics, they provide a natural high-frequency roll-off, giving the treble a clear but non-harsh quality. The midrange is warm and punchy, while the low end remains extended and balanced.
The SSV humbucker in the bridge position delivers an open, dynamic vintage-style humbucker tone with improved frequency response and added output in the bridge position. It provides stronger midrange sustain while retaining clarity and touch sensitivity.
