This is an exceptionally clean 1963 Jaguar in its original Candy Apple Red finish. The lacquer is all original and blacklights as it should with the proper paint stick mark in the neck pocket. There are a couple minor dings on the body of the guitar, much less than what I would expect for a 63 year old instrument. The neck is extremely comfortable with a dark chocolate colored Brazilian rosewood veneer fretboard with clay dots. I believe the frets to be original, although it could’ve been very convincingly refretted at some point with period correct fret wire. The electronics all function properly with some very minor scratching when switching circuits and the pickups are the desirable flat pole Jaguar pickups, which I believe changed to staggered poles in late ‘63. The serial number is pre ”L series” and the neck dates to Feb. ’63. The guitar still has its original mute and tremolo arm. I believe the pickguard to be an early version of a vinyl guard, but it could be a celluloid guard that hadn’t fully changed to mint green, I am not completely sure. Guitar weighs 8lbs 8oz and comes with original cream case. One of the latches on the case does not work. This guitar plays like a monster so it is surprising that it is this clean. Check out the video I have linked to hear it in action.
