This excellent PIONEER RT-909 vintage reel to reel unit was recently professionally serviced at British Audio Service of Nashville to ensure optimal working condition of all functions, specifically including:

• Removed unit cover. Dusted unit internals out.
• Dissassembled front panel, removed head assembly to gain access to pinch roller mechanism.
• Removed pinch roller mechanism.
• Debugged issue down to oxidized shafts.
• Cleaned and lubed full assembly / reassembled.
• Reassembled front panel.
• Cleaned and worked switches.
• Play back test. Passed. Issues resolved.
• Tested unit record function. Passed.
• Final test. Passed.

The only appreciable flaw on the unit is that one of the original feet on the rear of the unit (which are fragile and frequently broken on these 909's) is broken (see photos). This however has no impact on the function nor does it aesthetically diminish this striking, amazing sounding reel to reel.

The cosmetic condition is truly great. I have included a DEMO video that includes a few moments of ambient room sound as the machine activates, then crossfades to direct audio output capture for a clear representation of the excellent, clear output quality.

Additionally with the unit you will receive:

• the original PIONEER metal RT 909-specific takeup reel, and,
• a spare 10.5" Maxell reel (also metal)
• both original PIONEER Nab Hubs

All the lights work. All functions as well, including recording.  Heads are excellent as well. Very sweet!

Perhaps you can find it listed elsewhere for less (and I have seen them go for MORE) - but, in my case, you would be getting a thoroughly checked-out and refreshed unit with no stories.

A standard disclaimer:    While the unit is fully operational to the best of my knowledge, it is being sold "as-described" because some folks here and on other platforms harbor peculiar misapprehensions about how a 40-50 year old piece of vintage electronics should look and function.
