Early production Brauner Phantom C from the first generation of Dirk Brauner’s highly regarded FET condenser microphone design.
Handmade in Germany, the Phantom C helped establish Brauner’s reputation for extremely low self-noise, exceptional detail retrieval, and a natural, un-hyped tonal balance that works beautifully across a wide range of sources.
The Phantom C is often compared favorably with boutique German microphones such as the Neumann U87 Ai and models from Microtech Gefell UMT70S lineage for its clarity, realism, and versatility on vocals, acoustic instruments, piano, strings, drum overheads, and voiceover applications.
This unit is an early serial example (#170) and includes the original aluminum case and factory shock mount. The microphone has been carefully stored in its case when not in use in a smoke-free environment.
Early Phantom C units are less commonly seen on the market and represent the period when Brauner established its reputation among professional studios for precision-built, ultra-low-noise microphones.
A fantastic opportunity to acquire a high-end German condenser with boutique pedigree at a strong value relative to comparable studio microphones.
