A rare return to Spector’s earliest roots, the SB-1 makes its comeback through the Spector Custom Shop as part of the brand’s 50th Anniversary celebration. Originally conceived by Stuart Spector and Alan Charney in mid-1970s Brooklyn, the SB-1 predates the legendary NS series and represents the very first chapter of Spector craftsmanship. Now, this historic design has been faithfully recreated in New York as a strictly limited run of just 50 instruments worldwide, making it as collectible as it is significant.

Built with the unmistakable flat, wide SB-1 body shape, this anniversary model stays true to the original formula with classic neck-thru construction, a 34" scale length, and the vintage-style headstock that defined Spector’s earliest basses. Tone is delivered through a single DiMarzio Model One pickup, offering the warm, punchy passive voice that helped shape the SB-1’s original sound, while the iconic Leo Quan Badass bridge preserves the feel, response, and sustain players expect from this era-correct recreation.

This 50-piece run is split across four distinct wood selections - 15 Walnut, 15 Maple, 10 Curly Cherry, and 10 Rainbow Alder - giving each instrument its own visual identity while maintaining the unmistakable SB-1 character. Each bass ships in a premium Custom G&G hard case, complete with exclusive Spector Custom Shop interior embroidery.

Every detail of this release honors the earliest days of Spector history, offering players and collectors an exceptionally rare opportunity to own a faithful Custom Shop recreation of the company’s very first production bass.
