Cannonball ASCEP-BL “Sceptyr” Model Semi-Professional Alto Saxophone.

Cannonball has become one of the most popular saxophone makers in the United Stares and is widely used by professionals and students around the world. They are prolific in both modern jazz and classical settings and are appreciated for their excellent pitch, big sound, quick mechanism, and custom options. The Sceptyr model is Cannonball’s semi-pro/entry pro model designed for advancing students and advanced amateur players.

The Sceptyr features several professional features including blue abalone key touches, a matched one-piece neck receiver, high F# key, durable ribbed construction, a one-piece hand hammered bell, detachable bell and elbow (this makes a huge difference when repairing or adjusting the sax), Pisoni Italian pads, brass resonators, and a pivoting C#/Bb mechanism. This particular Sceptyr is the ASCEP-BL, which has black nickel lacquer with gold lacquer mechanism.

The sax is in EXCELLENT condition. It has seen almost no use. It plays perfectly from top to bottom with a fat, warm, focused sound. The pitch is excellent and stable in all registers. The mechanism is quick and quiet, and very ergonomically comfortable. Extremely modern feel.

The only cosmetic issues I can find are some very slight wear on the palm high Eb key, and a very small ding in the elbow about the size of a pen tip. I have tried to show both of these in the photos. Otherwise the sax appears to be flawless - cosmetically 9.999/10. The pads and bumpers look like new - near perfect.

The sax comes with an unmarked mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is clean and functional, but has some scratching on the back from use with an inverted ligature (this does not affect use). I believe it is the original cannonball mouthpiece, but not positive. The mouthpiece also has a new toothguard. Also included is a ligature, cap, and neck strap.

Everything comes in the original black alligator skin style Cannonball vanguard case. The case is in excellent condition overall. The exterior shows some slight wear from storage, but minimal - cosmetically 9/10. The interior is extremely clean and looks brand new, however it does have a very slight stale/smoke odor that should fade with time - interior is cosmetically 9.999/10.

This saxophone would be perfect for a very serious, advancing student looking to upgrade to a more serious instrument. It would also suite a college student or serious amateur player. This model currently retails new for $4,059.00, so this is a great chance to save a TON on a barely used instrument.
