Description: Up for sale is a rare and beautiful H.N. White “King” single-valve signal cornet, serial 157395, made in Cleveland, Ohio — dating to the 1930s based on the serial range. This is not a standard cornet — it’s a purpose-built field instrument, used to signal assemblies and calls. Single-valve examples in this condition are genuinely hard to find.
The instrument: Silver plate has cleaned up exceptionally well and retains strong shine throughout. Bell engraving is crisp and legible, featuring the classic King/H.N. White medallion stamp. Minor small dents here and there consistent with 100 years of field use — none affecting playability or structural integrity. Valve moves freely and responds well with oil. Both slides pull freely. Water key cork has been freshly replaced. The instrument plays well across its range.
The case: Original H.N. White “King” hard case with the riveted brass King/H.N. White Co., Cleveland, Ohio nameplate on the lid — a rare survivor. Burgundy velvet interior intact.
Why this matters: King signal cornets were made in limited quantities for specific field use — they are not common on the vintage market. This example is complete, functional, and presentable. A legitimate piece of American brass and religious history. Would display beautifully alongside any vintage brass collection or memorabilia.
Ships fully insured in original case.
