I am offering a Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster from 2004, a crafted at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California (USA), Eric Clapton luxury signature model featuring a select alder body (3.58kg total weight!), bolt-on maple neck with soft “V” neck profile and 42mm nut width, one-piece maple fingerboard with black dot inlays and 22 vintage frets, three hot Fender USA Vintage Noiseless singlecoil pickups, sophisticated electronics featuring TBX Tone Expander and active 0-25dB mid-boost, Fender Vintage Style nickel tuners as well as Fender CS American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo Bridge in glossy black high-gloss “Blackie” nitrocellulose finish in excellent condition, including Fender G&G Tweed hardshell case, manufacturer’s papers (including C.o.A.) and professional setup with 10-gauge Elixir strings.
With this Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster, the Fender Custom Shop presents what is perhaps the most famous Stratocaster model ever made by the British guitar legend as a classic “Blackie” version in a high-gloss black finish. Built to Clapton’s specifications and features, it boasts a body made of hand-selected alder, a special “Soft V”-shaped maple neck, three Vintage Noiseless single-coil pickups, and sophisticated electronics with the infamous active mid-boost and TBX tone expander.
Sonically, the instrument delivers authentic vintage sounds with lively dynamics through the amp, skillfully covering the range of Mr. “Slowhand” from blues to rock: bell-like, silky tones that bring out every nuance of picking when played clean, and when distorted, authentically recreate the typical wiry, charged “Layla” tone.
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
In terms of playability, the guitar sits comfortably in the hand thanks to its soft “V”-shaped neck profile and is easy to play across all 22 vintage frets. The vintage nickel tuners ensure excellent tuning stability.
This Custom Shop model is a true workhorse, combining an extremely tasteful and elegant appearance with excellent playability and incredible sound.
