How's it going! You're looking at a 1981 Gibson Sonex-180 Deluxe Electric Guitar!
Made in 1981 in Nashville, Tennessee, this Gibson Sonex-180 has been modified with a third pick up added in the middle position making this a truly unique guitar! These guitars were produced in Gibson's "Norlin Era" and were specifically designed as an entry-level "working man's" guitar but they remain famous for their unconventional materials and "bulletproof" durability. The guitar features a bolt-on maple neck with a comfortable C shape. The neck definitely has a chunkier feel to it but the 24.75" scale length ensures a familiar Gibson string tension that is easy for bending. The Resonwood body provides a dense, punchy tone with more sustain than many other wooden guitars in its original price range. The addition of the high-output Seymour Duncan Invader to the middle position transforms this Sonex into an aggressive, high-gain powerhouse with massive low end depth and sustain. Visually, the guitar shows some moderate wear from previous use and the headstock has been repaired after previously breaking. The pick guard is a bit warped but this is mainly due to the third pickup modification and wiring (See photos provided). Aside from these cosmetic defects, all of the electronics are in working order and the guitar is fully functional. The neck is straight, the intonation is spot on and the action is excellent. There is minimal fret wear apparent and this guitar has been professionally set up with new strings weighing in at 9 pounds, 5 ounces. This guitar comes with a gig bag and is ready for its next owner to plug in and start playing!!
Rated a 6.5 on the condition scale based on exterior condition and functionality.
