This was a one owner synth purchased new in 1981. It was originally a rev 3.2 but was sent back to sequential for the factory 3.3 upgrade and now features 120 programs of memory. Countless hours and attention to detail were spent carefully making this instrument perfect again.

The Achilles heal of the prophet is the power supply, which formerly required a band aid fix known as the “diode mod”. This called for the insertion of a 1N4002 in the ground lead for the 5v rail and was a poor attempt to boost the 5v rail output, which can collapse over thermal limit. The original regulator had to dissipate over 13W, as the single set of secondary windings supplied 22v for the 15v rectifiers with no additional winding for the 5v rail. This new supply leads to cooler and more reliable operation of the synth for years to come. The rectifier diodes, filter capacitors, and the +5V regulator have higher ratings than the original parts. All tantalum and electrolytic caps were replaced with quality, long life, 105c Nichicon.

The keybed was completely disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt. Keys were washed, new bushings installed and greased. Most importantly, the entire jwire assembly and all bus bars were removed and properly cleaned and polished. This takes hours on its own and most techs only spot clean them. I have seen countless unreliable keybeds in the field, so this unit had every single bus bar unsoldered and polished. Most J wires were replaced (a test a performed to determine if they are weak and going to break soon. Any weak wires were removed and replaced). The action is buttery smooth and plays like new.

The wood case was cleaned and new topside badge installed. This instrument underwent a complete calibration and several hours of burn in. It is ready to go!
