You’re looking at a Sterling By Music Man Ray34CA. This is a discontinued model styled after 70s Stingrays with a slab ash body, AlNiCo pickup, and classic 2-band EQ. For those who prefer slimmer jazz-bass-style necks, this bass also features a 38mm nut width.
The body finish on this one is very clean, with only minor swirling/play wear to be expected on an instrument of this age. The previous owner installed a bone nut in place of the stock plastic nut, and re-textured the neck finish to a matte satin vs the stock high-gloss for a super smooth playing feel. There is some wear along the edges of the neck, and the nut install could be cleaner, but playability is quite excellent overall.
These older Ray34 basses are extremely well-spec’d for their price point; I would argue better than many of their modern offerings. This model in particular is pretty hard-to-find; I’m selling this one because I recently bought another older Ray34 in natural (my favorite finish).
